Process Quality Engineering Intern
description Material Liner Repair Automation
Worked with a team of interns to design & test an automated material packaging repair apparatus focused on improving operation safety, productivity, & quality. I specifically designed & prototyped a fold removal system & designed hidden layer heuristics for anomaly (hole/tear) detection with a provided COGNEX camera.
Key Impact
- 1) Reduced operator ergonomics & safety ratings from "high risk" to "low risk."
- 2) Reduced liner repair variations from standard (quantification unavailable).
description Material Wind-Up Centering Unit Improvement
1) Proposed PCB design & sensor integration to replace leaking pneumatic sensing unit of Maxcess FIFE pneumohydraulic centering unit used to center product on material packaging to reduce coning effect of product on packaging during wind-up process.
2) Designed automatically adjusting mount for FIFE pneumohydraulic edge finders to address product centering quality concerns on material packaging for different product cut widths.
Key Impact
description Steel Rework Process Re-Integration
Led change management process and brought together a team of interns for re-integrating rework process to reduce steel scrap.
Key Impact
- 1) Presented viability & internal value in material savings to plant & shop management.
- 2) Proposed revamped design around current ergonomic requirements.
description Variation Analysis Study Validation
Tasked with improving validity of LMI GoCator variation analysis studies across different operating frequencies, currently set to time-domain results.
Key Impact
- 1) Proposed using an encoder for triggering recording mechanism to transition to position-domain results
- 2) Improved capture accuracy & sample validity across different operating frequencies.
